Sterling K. Brown worked an unusual fashion statement at the 2025 Emmy Awards.

Brown, 49, wheeled out onto the stage at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 14, on a knee scooter, with his left leg propped up. His entrance came ahead of his Paradise costars Julianne Nicholson and James Marsden as the trio prepared to present the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

In a lengthy Instagram video posted from his bed on Sept. 9, the Emmy winner explained that he had torn his Achilles tendon. Brown admitted he was being "athletic" at the time of the injury, but it was the result of taking a painful step - nothing he deemed "super dangerous."

Brown added at the time that he's postponing his surgery because of the 2025 Emmys, where he was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category for his performance on Hulu's hit Paradise. He plays Xavier Collins, a U.S. Secret Service agent uncovering the truth behind the President's death in a post-apocalyptic underground bunker.
